Felix Murray

I am a Year 3 student studying Design Engineering at Imperial College London. I love finding elegant, simple solutions to design problems, and I’m passionate about people and user-centred design.

I have an eye for detail, and love presenting complex solutions in a simple and engaging way. I’m confident with a range of digital and physical tools, including the Adobe suite, SolidWorks, programming in Python & Arduino, Rapid Prototyping, and traditional manufacture. I’m eager to learn more!

Employment

DJ

I am employed regularly as DJ in many of the Imperial College bar and club venues. I am also currently working on expanding my repertoire of regular venues, with recent experience in Ministry of Sound and Tiger Tiger. In addition to these events, I am exploring opportunities to DJ at other, more underground events around London. This requires me to network, and subsequently maintain good relationships with events organisers and promoters, and be punctual and reliable.

Telephone Fundraising

I have worked as a Student Caller for two of Imperial College’s Telephone Campaigns, encouraging alumni to give financially to the life and work of the College. This role has increased my ability to be able to empathise and relate to people, as well as develop valuable persuasion and reasoning skills.

I now work as a Campaign Supervisor, managing a team of callers. This has its own challenges, and I have gained a lot of team management, encouragement and organisational skills from this role.

Tuition

I tutor a number of clients in a variety of subjects. Tutoring requires preparation, flexibility, and an understanding of how to not only connect to someone else’s way of working, but help develop it to achieve a goal.

VR Team Building Events

I frequently work for Steamed Egg, a startup providing corporate team-building events using virtual reality. This requires me to engage professionally with both the team and the clients to deliver an entertaining, technically smooth and memorable event. The role requires a lot of responsibility and adaptability, whether this be in transporting and setting up valuable equipment to venues, or co-leading the events themselves.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Grove Road Records

In September 2019 I signed a contract with the record label Grove Road Records, joining them as a resident DJ & Producer. This requires a high level of organisation, as I have to manage the projects I work on within the label alongside my studies. I need to work with and communicate ideas effectively to other artists, promoters and collaborators in order to meet targets for release deadlines and event dates.
